1. Germany is inspecting all Chinese components already installed in the country's 5G network and reassessing its relationship with China, its largest trading partner.
Last month, the German government planned to ban telecom carriers from using certain components from Huawei and ZTE in their 5G networks. The ban could include components already built into the network, requiring carriers to remove and replace them.
On Huawei 5G, countries expressed their opinions
Britain, the United States, Australia and other countries have officially announced a boycott of Huawei
European Union: Limits, but not bans
France: Final demolition
Poland: Banned
Romania: Prohibited
Sweden: Banned
Canada: Disable Huawei
New Zealand: Banned
Thailand: Active cooperation
Malaysia: Invitation to tender

2. Scroll screen phone coming? Xiaomi scroll screen phone appearance patent is authorized
Xiaomi Mobile Software Co LTD was granted a patent for the appearance of the "phone" earlier this month, with the patent number CN307959735S.
The patent shows a design for a phone that is shaped like a bar, with the screen structure sucked into the bar and drawn out when needed. The phone also includes a pop-up camera designed to meet users' shooting needs.

3. Korea announced the launch of the "Industrial Transformation Super Gap Project", which will focus on 11 sectors such as semiconductors, displays and batteries
The 11 investment sectors are semiconductors, display, batteries, future mobility, core materials, intelligent robots, high-tech manufacturing, aerospace and defense, next-generation nuclear energy, high-tech biotechnology and new energy industries.
In semiconductors, three tasks and four projects have been selected. In order to implement the first task (" power in high-tech system chips "), two projects will be launched: 1) development of composite power semiconductors for mobile, energy, and home appliances, and 2) development of semiconductor technology for autonomous vehicles (level 4 or above).
The second task (" Fostering the world's top 10 reprocessing enterprises ") has been selected to start the basic technology development project of high-tech semiconductor packaging.
The third task (" Supporting the semiconductor supply chain to remain super-gap competitive ") will be to build a small fab for early commercial demonstrations of 12-inch high-tech semiconductor wafers known as Mpes (materials, components and devices).

4. Infineon: Semiconductor for electric vehicles is expected to grow by more than 20%
Freeman Cao, senior vice president of Infineon Technologies and head of automotive electronics in Greater China, said in an interview on April 14, 2023, that the expected annual growth rate of semiconductors needed for autonomous driving is more than 20%.
Freeman Cao points out that automotive semiconductors, especially those needed for electric vehicles, are growing at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 30 percent, with growth expected to double dramatically over the next few years.
"Power semiconductors, such as OBCs and DCCS, are also growing at an average annual rate of 25 percent and will grow exponentially in the future. The market size for the use of semiconductors in electric vehicle powertrains is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 25 percent from 2021 to 2029 in the Chinese market, "said Freeman Cao.
"With an estimated annual growth rate of more than 20 percent for semiconductors required for automotive intelligence and L2 and L2+ assisted driving, the demand for automotive semiconductors for advanced autonomous driving will grow substantially in the future," he said. "In addition, the promotion of networked semiconductors, including body and cockpit, will also increase semiconductor demand. If we also include the new architecture growth of automotive energy absorption (EA), the demand growth is greater than 30 percent."

5. Lenovo: PC shipments will resume growth next year
As for the forecast of PC shipments in 2023, Luca Rossi, head of Lenovo's computer and smartphone business and senior vice president of Lenovo Group, said the PC market is likely to remain negative this quarter and the next.
However, he pointed out that it will start to reverse from the end of this year, with steady single-digit growth in 2024 and 2025. The current negative growth is a temporary phenomenon and is expected to turn to stable growth in 2024 and 2025.

6. Spot DRAM prices stop falling
Spot DRAM prices have stopped falling recently, much faster than expected, while contract prices continued to fall in the second quarter.
On the other hand, memory module companies argue that the current market demand is not enough to sustain a strong recovery. While spot prices stopped falling earlier than expected, sources at downstream module companies said it was likely to be temporary.
Samsung has given clear indicators of impending production cuts, as well as warnings of potential operating losses. According to industry watchers, DRAM prices are about to bottom out, which will encourage the market to resume hoarding. However, whether the price can stop falling and start to rise, or depends on the actual market demand.

7. The Third Ring Road issued a price hike notice for MLCC products
April 12, 2023, domestic MLCC giant Sanhuan Group recently issued a price hike notice, saying it will raise prices in the second quarter, starting in April.
The past year was the coldest winter for passive components in 10 years, Tri-Ring said in the notice. In order to maintain reasonable profitability and achieve sustainable development, the company will be committed to technological advances to reduce costs. After consulting with partners, the company decided to raise prices in the second quarter and apply the new prices from April.
Tri-ring Road did not disclose the exact price increase. Analysts believe that the current inventory adjustment of MLCC general products is coming to an end, MLCC shipments and prices are gradually stabilizing, and the downward phase is about to bottom out.

8.ST wins multi-year order for ZF SiC devices
On April 14, 2023, stmicroelectronics (ST) recently announced that it has signed a multi-year supply contract with ZF Group to supply silicon carbide devices to ZF starting in 2025.
Under the terms of the multi-year contract, stmicroelectronics will provide millions of third-generation silicon carbide MosFEts for integration into a new modular inverter architecture that will begin mass production in 2025. ZF will leverage stmicroelectronics' vertically integrated silicon carbide manufacturing in Europe and Asia to secure customer orders in the electric vehicle sector.

9.Intel exits the entire server service
On April 12, 2023, Intel confirmed that it plans to stop selling complete servers and sell its DSG business to MiTAC, the parent company of Tyan Computer in Taiwan, China, one of its partners.
After Pat Kirsinger became CEO of Intel, the company abandoned a number of businesses, including 3D NAND flash memory and SSD business, Optane SSD business, NB modem business, etc.
