1. STMicroelectronics cooperates with Wuerte Electronics to develop high-performance electric tools
July 21, 2023, China - W ü rth Elektronik and STMicroelectronics cooperated to develop a prototype using Wuerte power tools. This product is designed to efficiently drive low-voltage brushless DC motors and is very suitable for handheld portable electric tools. In addition, the design also includes a user interface for controlling motor switches, speed, and steering.

STMicroelectronics and Wuerte Electronics displayed this power tool prototype on their respective booths at the international power electronics exhibition PCIMEEurope held in Nuremberg, Germany, from May 9 to 11, 2023, which attracted a large number of visitors to stop and watch.

2. ADI and Hon Hai jointly develop digital cockpit and Battery management system
This week, ADI announced that it will establish a cooperation relationship with Hon Hai in the automotive field, and the two sides will jointly build a new generation of vehicle digital cockpit platform and high-performance Battery management system. In addition, both parties have signed a memorandum of cooperation. Hon Hai stated that with its ADI system solutions and technology platforms, Hon Hai will provide more cost-effective products to automotive customers to accelerate product entry into the market.

3. Most of Infineon's business is in a downward trend

Infineon achieved a revenue of $11.7 billion in Q1 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 36.17% compared to the previous quarter. This is due to the varying degrees of decline in other businesses except for the Mobileye business. According to Infineon's prediction, the company's overall revenue in Q2 2023 is expected to rebound month on month, but still decline year-on-year. In terms of inventory, Infineon's inventory level slightly improved in Q1 2023 compared to the previous month. The inventory turnover days continued to rise, increasing by 16 days compared to Q4 2022, reaching 153 days.

4. Nvidia's inventory turnover days have declined

Nvidia's inventory level in 2023Q1 was slightly lower than that in 2022Q4, and the number of days of inventory turnover for repair was 22 days lower than that in 2022Q4, reaching 173 days. In addition, Nvidia's 2023Q1 revenue is expected to reach US $7.191 billion in the second quarter, which is expected to turn negative to positive year-on-year. From the perspective of major businesses, Infineon's data center and automotive sector are the fastest growing.

5. Anson Meijia has made great efforts to specialize in automobile end business

Onsemi's auto terminal business shows rapid growth. In 2023Q1, the total revenue of the enterprise will reach 1.96 billion US dollars, of which the year-on-year growth of auto revenue will be 38%, accounting for more than half of the total revenue. In addition, Ansen also announced this week that it will carry out cooperation agreements with BorgWarner, which provides innovative and sustainable car model solutions, with a total value of more than $1 billion, with the purpose of expanding strategic cooperation in silicon carbide.

6. Qualcomm Collaborates with Meta
It is reported that Qualcomm and Meta have collaborated to optimize the MetaLlama2 language model, which can be executed directly on the terminal side without relying on cloud services and can run generative AI models such as Llama2 on smartphones, PCs, VR/AR, and cars. This will enable developers to save cloud costs and provide users with a more private, reliable, and personalized experience.

7. Samsung Obtains AMD Artificial Intelligence Chip
Due to Samsung's significant increase in the yield of advanced manufacturing processes, AMD has obtained orders for artificial intelligence chip manufacturing. However, some industry insiders believe that AMD is unlikely to transfer orders for 3nm chips to Samsung. This is because AMD has been cooperating with TSMC on 3nm technology for at least two years, and the relationship between AMD and TSMC has expanded to 2nm process manufacturing. AMD relies heavily on TSMC to produce processors below 5nm, so there is almost no need to take the risk of transferring orders.

8. Marvell founder invested $2 billion to establish a chip foundry in Singapore
It is reported that SiliconBox, founded by the founder of Marvell and headquartered in Singapore, has invested $2 billion to open an advanced semiconductor manufacturing foundry in Singapore, aiming to expand the use of "chiplet" technology. This is a cost-effective way to package small semiconductors together to form a processor that can power all devices from the data center to home appliances.

9. Roma to acquire Toshiba
This week, Rom will provide a total of 300 billion yen to a consortium led by private equity firm Japan Industrial Partners for the proposed acquisition of Toshiba. As is well known, both Rom and Toshiba produce power semiconductor devices, which help reduce the power consumption of electric vehicles, appliances, and other products. Rom regards this field as a top priority and aims to occupy 30% of the global market share of silicon carbide power devices in the fiscal year 2025.
